The Eyes Have It: A Meditation for Two

This is a simple but deep meditation to cultivate your self confidence, relationships and focus. It promotes intimacy, strengthens bonds and opens the heart.

Looking deeply into another person’s eyes is a healing meditative practice. Try this with a friend, family member or partner. Especially if you feel as if you have been taking them for granted or just wish to be closer.

Both people should begin by taking a few deep breaths to relax. Shake off the tension. Sit across from one another with your palms resting on your knees facing up. Spend about five minutes looking into each others eyes. Try not to think, just take in this other human being. At first, you may feel like giggling, but understand that is just the nerves and push past it. If emotions come up, let them. Allow yourself to cry or smile. Let the feelings come from a sense of connection rather than defense against it. End the meditation with a hug. If you have anything you want to tell them, share. It’s alright to stay quiet too.
